It all began when they met at St Andrews in 2001...

March 2002: In her 1st year at St Andrews, Kate Middleton models a transparent dress over clearly visible black lingerie at the annual Don't Walk charity fashion show at St. Andrews. It's widely reported that William paid for a front-row seat at the show.
William whispered to his friend Fergus, “Kate’s hot!” He made his move later that night, leaning into kiss her, but she pulled away. “She didn’t want to give off the wrong impression or make it too easy for Will,” said someone who was at the party.
Kate was known as the prettiest girl in their dorm. William loved her quiet and low key demeanor.
September 2002: William, Kate and 2 other friends moved into a shared student house at 13a Hope Street, a house in the center of St. Andrews—one of these friends was Kate. The couple worked to keep their romance a secret, vowing never to hold hands in public, employing decoys, and showing up to parties separately. But in the confines of their home, they could act like any other university couple, watching movies together, ordering in pizza, or Indian from the Bangladeshi restaurant down the road of which Kate was so fond.
June 2003: Middleton is a guest at William's 21st birthday party at Windsor Castle; in an interview he denies he has a steady girlfriend.
The Famous Skiing Photo in 2004: The Sun printed this photo outing William & Kate as a couple as they skied in Klosters together in 2004. They continued to keep their relationship quiet although this was the 1st act of "PDA"!.

When rumors started that Middleton was dating Prince William in 2005, the young woman was photographed about town. She smiled for the cameras at the Gatcombe Horse Trials in Gloucesters.
June 2005: William and Middleton graduate in the same ceremony at St. Andrews. I just love this shot! Note, it's credited by The Middleton Family :-)
December 2006: William is commissioned as an army officer in front of the queen at Sandhurst and joins the Household Cavalry as a second lieutenant. Middleton sits in the stands at The Royal Military Academy in Camberley, England, Dec. 15, 2006.

April 2007: British newspapers report that William and Kate have split up. I wouldn't be happy either :-( Prince Charles' Clarence House office refuses to comment, but does not deny the report.
July 2007: Media in the U.K. report that the two have rekindled their romance. Prince William and Kate Middleton, photographed exiting a London nightclub together.
April 11, 2008: Kate is seen at William's side at his graduation ceremony from the Royal Air Force, taken as a signal by royal watchers that their relationship is now serious.
June 2008: Kate attends the Order of the Garter service at Windsor Castle, the first time she has appeared at a formal royal public event. Notice her hat gets bigger the more serious Kate & William get!

February 2010: Asked by a member of the public about the prospect of a royal wedding, William says: "You'll have to wait a while yet."
